It's rare that I meet someone who doesn't like sweets, although these people do exist, and it always takes me by surprise, for the most part, it's hard for people to resist a sweet and delicious treat. If you are anything like me, and you love your sweet treats, then prepare to be amazed by these strawberry shortcake kabobs. Yes, we've all heard of meat and veggie kabobs, they are a backyard barbecue staple. I am sure there are even few people that have yet to try those out. However, putting these strawberry shortcake treats on these sticks is revolutionary! It's the perfect outdoor dessert since you don't need all the messy plates and forks. This reduces waste and tastes just as good. If you were to do a BBQ with kabobs, these would be the perfect dessert to go with them, wouldn't they? They would be a great way to keep with a theme of finger foods on a stick. The nice part about kabobs, is that each person gets the same amount, on one stick, so there is usually enough to go around to everyone.
Of course you don't have to limit yourself to strawberry shortcake kabobs, you can put just about any sweet treat on the ends of these sticks and call it a day. It's a simple concept that can be suited to your tastes, get creative because the sky is the limit! Essentially just make your dessert of choice, but instead of finishing it all up in a pan, just cut them into bite sized pieces and add to a long skewer. Add on some cut chunks of fruit, and drizzle with some sort of homemade chocolate or vanilla sauce of choice and you have a delicious and ingenious dessert on the go! The girl who made this recipe, from Sugar Apron food blog, even suggested to coordinate the colours of the kebabs you choose with the theme of your party to go that extra mile. I have done sliced fruit like strawberries, pineapple, banana, kiwi and grapes to make kind of a fruit rainbow kabob. Then, I made my own healthy chocolate sauce out of raw cacao powder, and honey, and drizzled it over top of the made kabobs. It looked so pretty and they tasted amazing! People at the BBQ absolutely loved them, and everyone appreciated having a healthier sweet treat too.
These Strawberry Shortcake Kabobs, would be awesome for a kid's birthday party as well. The kids could even put them together or help you put them together to lend a helping hand. This would teach them how to prepare for a party and also some good kitchen skills. However you choose to enjoy this awesome twist on your old run of the mill strawberry shortcake, I'm sure it will be a hit at any party.
