This recipe will make use of cube steaks as the cut of beef. If you are not familiar with this cut, it is the top round or top sirloin tenderized by fierce pounding with a meat tenderizer. Based from my experience in cooking beef, certain cuts of beef take a long slow cook time to become tender. It entirely depends on what cut of beef you have. Sirloin (the thin strips) take just a few minutes to cook, so it is good for stir-frying. If you have a different cut like these cube steaks, it would be best if you use the slow cooker. A slow cooker also known as crockpot is a countertop electrical cooking appliance used for simmering which requires a relatively low temperature. Slow cookers are best when it will take hours of cooking and low heat, and you want to leave it unattended. Beef is best enjoyed when it is tender and not tough and rubbery for chewing and slicing.

This recipe will not be complete if you don’t have the gravy. Gravy is made from the juice (broth) that runs from the meat naturally during cooking and is thickened using flour or cornstarch. Waters or canned broths are often used if there is not enough natural juice from the cooking process. To make this recipe more fantastic, you can add mashed potatoes, cooked rice or noodles.
